A new clip from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been released. The 30-second video appears to have been taken from a fast-paced action sequence. It shows Rey, Chewbacca, C3-PO, BB8, Finn and Poe Dameron being pursued by new kind of Stormtroopers who can now fly using a jetpack-like device — to the dismay of Finn and Poe.
The film continues the story of Rey, and we also know it wraps up the saga of Skywalkers. In The Last Jedi, the villainous Kylo Ren assumed control of the First Order after killing Andy Serkis’ Supreme Leader Snoke. The Resistance will fight against the tyranny of the First Order one last time.
JJ Abrams, who also helmed the first film in the trilogy, has directed it. He has also penned the script with Chris Terrio.
The Rise of Skywalker features a large ensemble cast. Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Anthony Daniels, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd reprise their roles from The Last Jedi.
Billy Dee Williams return to don his role of Lando Calrissian from the original trilogy, as does Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine, former emperor of the Galactic Empire and the primary antagonist of the original trilogy. Naomi Ackie, Richard E Grant, and Keri Russell join the franchise with this film.
Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker releases on December 20, 2019.
